Spring Training Preview: Starting Pitching – Neftali Feliz

The number 5 starter spot should be very intersting this season. Neftali is going to be the number 5 starter, in my opinion. Some people project him as the number three or number four guy, but I like the way I have it! Neftali was a all-star closer in 2010, and he was one strike away from winning the World Series in 2011. Neftali has been a starter before, in the minor leagues. He started 67 games between 3 different teams in 2008 and 2009. He was 24-18 with a 2.92 ERA.  He has electric stuff, and I really look forward to seeing if he can get it done. He will be a great starter, in my opinion. Neftali’s curveball and changeup were looking pretty good last season, and now he has had a whole off season to work on his secondary pitches. I think this will be a learning year for Feliz, but after this season, look out.

Here is what I see. 9-5 with a 4.20 ERA, 150 strikeouts and 75 walks. I think Neftali will be okay, but it will take him a little while to get ready to be a full time starter. Later I will do the other two starter possibles, Alexi Ogando and Scott Feldman.
