Back in First

Thanks to the Seattle Mariners defeating the Oakland Athletics last night and the Rangers taking care of business again, the Texas Rangers are back in first place this morning. The Rangers have now won five of their last six games, including four in a row.

If you enjoy recaps of the 2011 World Series, than you probably really enjoyed the play by play on Fox last night. If you are a Rangers fan or a casual baseball fan, than you did not enjoy it however. The constant references to how the Rangers blew it and how the Cardinals heroically came back and won was nauseating. The bad news? Tonight’s game is on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball so they will hit all the points that Joe Buck and Tim McCarver missed (which weren’t many, so I expect some repeat information).

The fact that the Rangers are winning against two of the best teams in the game, and the fact that they did it last night with Martin Perez is a good sign of things to come. This team seems to be back to its winning ways, and even if they lose tonight, they have still won the last two series against good competition. Tepesch has a tough assignment going against a Cardinals offense that has been held down for two games and being opposite of Adam Wainwright. We shall see if young Mr. Tepesch can acquire the Rangers a series sweep or if we will just have to be happy with a series win. I would personally like to see the sweep. Try to enjoy national coverage of the Cardinals tonight. And try to remind ESPN that the Rangers are in the game too. Someone should have told FOX last night.
