Health is the Key to 2014

20140106-095201.jpgLets face it, the Rangers had a good 2013 season, making it to a winner take all game 163. It makes me wonder how well they could have done if Matt Harrison, Alexi Ogando, Mitch Moreland and others would have remained healthy all season. All the Rangers needed was just one more win, and I feel like at least one of those guys would have been worth at least one win.

There is no doubt that the Rangers have talent, with names like Yu darvish, Shin-soo Choo, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus they should be competing for a division title every year. So why haven’t they won one for the past two years? I believe it is because of injury.

Now I’m not implying that the Rangers are the only team in major league baseball that struggles with guys getting injured, but I believe they have had more than their fair share over the past two seasons. A healthy Rangers rotation is a great rotation in my opinion, and I don’t feel like Adam Rosales is a adequate replacement for Adrian Beltre or Elvis Andrus if they get injured.

  1. Wow. Prophetic article. The Rangers announced today that Derek Holland tore something in his knee, had surgery and will be out until mid-season. This is really bad news for the team.
