Texas Rangers Player Profiles: Colby Lewis

World Series Giants Rangers BaseballColby Lewis is the greatest Texas Rangers post season pitcher in history, but we all know that this league is a “what have you done for me lately” type league. And Colby has not taken a major league mound since July of 2012 due to several injuries. So why do I think he will be better this season? Why do I think he will be an impact player in 2014? Well, I am not sure that I do.

If Lewis is one thing, that one thing is consistant. as Texas Rangers fans we know what we are getting with Lewis: He givesĀ up some long balls (more than one every other start average), and he eats up innings, or he did when he was healthy. Lewis says he feels better than he has in a long time and Mike Maddox says he looks good as well, but remember, he is a non-roster invitee to spring training, so he is really going to have to impress to make this rotation. I believe that he has the ability to impress, but I don’t know that he will. We will jsut have to wait and see. I hope that Colby does make the team, because I think he will be a good veteran prescence for Martin Perez. And I think he won’t really last a whole season, so he can pitch until Derek Holland comes back.

I would like to see Colby go out on top, and I believe that this may be his last season in the majors, so it is my hope that he makes it and makes a difference on a Texas Rangers team trying to get back to the post season.
