Real Baseball is Almost Here!

MLB: New York Yankees at Texas RangersGlobe Life Park is calling to me, I can feel it! The first game of the regular season is now only 17 days away. The Texas Ranger still have some questions that need to be answered like:

1. Who will be the last few bench players? We know that Adam Rosales is on the bench and we are pretty sure that J.P. Arencibia will be there, although Robinson Chirinos is having a very good spring training, now we just need to know who else it will be. Michael Choice and Engel Beltre are fighting for the fourth outfielders spot, and it will be interesting to see who wins.

2. Who will be the fourth and fifth starters? Tanner Scheppers and Robbie Ross are really making a push for this one, and it will be fun to watch down the spring training stretch. In the mix is also Joe Saunders, Tommy Hanson, Nick Tepesch and Michael Kirkman, who by the way did not have his best stuff last night against the Giants. Tanner Scheppers is starting the game today against the Reds and Robbie Ross is following him up, so a good outing by those two can really do something to help and decide who will win those two spots.

3. What to do with Alexi Ogando? Alexi is having a terrible spring, there is no doubt about it. He says that he is feeling fine and there is nothing to worry about, but I am worried. I wrote a piece about him on NolanWritin.com, you can check it out here. Ogando is a great bullpen pitcher, and I am starting to wonder if that is where he should be.

4. Who will the closer be? Joakim Soria and Neftali Feliz are the ones battling it out for this spot, and both are doing good but I think Soria has a slight edge at the moment, we will have to wait and see. Both men have been successful closers in the past, so this should be a fun battle to watch.

Although I am not going to opening day, I still can’t wait for it. It is truly one of the greatest days in all of sports, and it is only seventeen days away!
