The Ups and Downs of the Texas Rangers

"<strongThe season began last Monday with a loss to Oakland, then the Texas Rangers got their first win Tuesday, followed by a loss Wednesday, a win Thursday, a loss Friday, a win Saturday and it wrapped up with a heartbreaking loss on Sunday. So if you are keeping score (and I am), then the Texas Rangers are due for a big win tonight behind Ross Detwiler.

As a long time Texas Rangers blogger and an even longer time Texas Rangers fan, I find the pattern a little disconcerting. Not many teams that start mediocre finish strong, and I already predicted the Texas Rangers to finish third in the American League West behind the Mariners and Athletics (and most people think I have them too high, though I predicted their record to be 76-86). Looking at the Angels, I think they are just that bad. Their pitching is not that good, they have a whole lot of money tied up in two guys, one of which they really want to get rid of any way possible. Mike Trout is really good, but other than that they are not much more talented than the Texas Rangers.

The Angels come in to tonight’s game after being swept by the Royals over the weekend, so they have motivation to try and bounce back. The Texas Rangers also have motivation to continue the streak of winning every other game, and then hopefully start a winning streak after that. I feel like this is the series that the Rangers need to turn it around since their schedule does not get any easier after the Angels Series (They have the Mariners, D-Backs, Angels and Mariners to finish out the month).

The Rangers need to stop the up and down train they have been riding since day one of the season an rip off a nice 3 game winning streak against the Angels this week, and if they do, I will feel more confident about picking them to finish above said Angels. It is time for more ups than downs!
