Successful Home Stand Puts Rangers Back in Playoff Hunt

The Texas Rangers have not been good at home in 2015 (23-29, even after this last home stand). They changed that on this last home stand, going 7-3 and capping that off with a three game sweep of the Houston Astros. The Rangers went out and accquired Cole Hamels, Jake Diekman and Sam Dyson to help in the pitching department, and the call up of Chris Gimenez has looked pretty good so far for this club as well. The Texas Rangers are looking like a playoff team right now, but they have also done this before in the month of May.

Rangers fans know that a bad September can ruin a good playoff push, and even if the Texas Rangers have a good August, they still have to play one more month to make it into October baseball. Shawn Tolleson has been great as the new closer, and Diekman is looking like a great set up man. This team is building towards something, and it makes me start to believe that they could indeed make a run. One thing they need to do is continue winning on the road, where they are currently seven games over .500. Since the Rangers play better on the road, watch them have their best chance to win when they start a three-game series with the Mariners. Hipmunk.com offers flights to Seattle through most major airline carries, to pair with cheap hotels in Seattle to be the one-stop shop for a baseball getaway.

Tonight we will see the second Texas Rangers start for newly acquired ace Cole Hamels, and the Rangers need to get him his first win as a Texas starter. They will face Seattle and the Twins on this roadtrip, and I believe that they can come out of the trip at least 4-2 with the way they have been playing on the road. I would like to see them sweep Seattle, but that is going to be tough.

I have a feeling that the Rangers are going to keep themselves in the hunt and keep their fans on the edge of their seats well into September. I just hope that leads them to playing baseball in October.
