A lot of experts and non experts alike all agreed
that the Texas Rangers were dead in the water at least three times in the 2015 season, and they may still be by the time it is all said and done, but for right now, the Texas Rangers are in first place in the American League West. After the season that the fans endured in 2014, it is pretty amazing that the team is above the .500 mark, and even more amazing that they are now first in the West.
I for one would not have seen this coming. I picked the Rangers to finish fourth in the West when the season started, and I have never been more happy to be wrong. The game last night totally felt like a playoff game, and for that matter so did the game before that. The Texas Rangers are now looking like the team they were predicted to be last season before all of the devastating injuries. The impressive thing is that the Texas Rangers have done most of the winning this season without Derek Holland, who just returned, Yu Darvish, or Josh Hamilton.
The addition of Cole Hamels has been a great one for this team, and Derek Holland, although he struggled last night, has looked good since his return. The bats are coming alive and the bull pen is looking sharp with guys like Jake Diekman, Shawn Tolleson, Sam Dyson, Sam Freeman and others. This team now looks like it could actually make a run this season.
I don’t know how long they are going to hold on to the top spot in the West, and I don’t even know in the end if they are going to make the post season, but for now, I am glad that I can talk about the first place Texas Rangers this late in the season!
