Texas Rangers Return Home With Commanding Lead

elvis-andrus-rougned-odorThe Texas Rangers are truly conforming to their managers mantra of never ever quit. Rangers fans everywhere, myself included, considered them dead and gone on more than one occasion. But yet here they are with a two games to none lead over the AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays. All the pundits had the Blue Jays sweeping the Rangers right out of the post season, the announcers sound sad that the Rangers are winning, but here we are.

This team has more resiliency than any team I remember in a long time. They are winning without Adrian Beltre, arguably one of the best third baseman of all time and a clutch hitter at the plate, with an ineffective Prince Fielder, Mitch Moreland, Shin-Soo Choo and Josh Hamilton. Guys like Rougned Odor, Hanser Alberto and Delino DeShields are the ones getting the job done for the Texas Rangers. If you got to go to either of those games I am very jealous of you. Not many fans could say they were expecting to plan postseason road trips for the Rangers this season, but it has been a special ride for Rangers fans. Hipmunk.com has flights to Toronto to see live playoff baseball at the Rogers Centre for Games 1, 2 and 5 of the ALDS. Take in both games by booking a cheap Toronto hotel on Hipmunk starting from $95 to complete the trip.

And now they come home. They have Martin Perez going in game three with a chance to win the Division series in a sweep. What a difference a few days make. Now don’t get me wrong, the series is far from over, and the Blue Jays have the capability of scoring a lot of runs really fast, but the Rangers only have to win one more, and I like their odds. I am worried about Beltre, and I think that the Texas Rangers are going to need both him and Fielder going forward, but I feel good about at least this series. Maybe the Royals and Astros can go 5 games and give the Rangers a couple of days extra to rest.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the post season baseball I have gotten to witness so far, and I can’t wait to watch Sunday’s game!
