Everyone now knows the name Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara, Jurickson Profar, and Chi Chi Gonzalez, but what about the other prospects that you don’t hear as much about? The Texas Rangers had Colby Lewis have a bit of soreness last night during his start, and it made me wonder who is doing well right now down on the farm. I thought I would share it with you, the readers!

Round Rock Express:

Bats:

brett nicholasCatcher Brett Nicholas, who spent some time with the big club earlier this season is really having a nice season in Round Rock. He has a slash line of .335/.412/.503 with four home runs and 26 RBI. I wish he would have stayed up with the Rangers, but I understand why he was sent back down. He is not disappointing so far.

Outfielder Jared Hoying, who has also spent time with the Rangers, is also not slacking in AAA ball. Hoying is batting .311/.386/.534 with seven home runs and 36 RBI.

Ryan Strausborger and Patrick Cantwell round out the guys hitting over .300 in AAA ball, one an left fielder and one a catcher. By the way, Gallo is batting .272 with 13 home runs, if you were wondering.

Pitching:

Chi Chi is 3-6 with a 5.04 ERA in 14 starts so far this season, not a real great start for him.

Michael Roth, in 11 starts (16 games overall) is 6-3 with a 2.99 ERA so far.

Nick Martinez is 6-4 with 4.50 ERA in 11 starts.

As far as relievers go, Justin DeFratus has an ERA of 2.87 with 21 strike outs in 31.1 innings pitched, and Luke Jackson has an ERA of 2.45 with 27 strike outs in 22 innings pitched.

Just a quick look at who is doing well in Round Rock.
