One and Six

The Texas Rangers are one and six since the All-Star break. Fans were hopeful that the mid summer break would rejuvenate this ballclub that had a pretty decent first half. The Rangers had the most wins in the AL. They had a 6.5 game lead in the division. But they were limping.

The limp has now turned into a crawl with the Rangers only winning one game in the last seven. To make matters worse, they were swept by the rival Angels and lost a game last night in which Yu Darvish struck out eleven and the pen was great.

The Rangers now have a 2.5 game lead, they have the third most wins in the American League, and they have fans feeling rather nervous. How long can their starters have an ERA over 8? How long can they leave bases loaded? When will Houston cool down?

I wish someone had the answers to fix the struggling Rangers, but they don’t. The Rangers have to do that for themselves. They will snap out of it. They will win with consistancy again. They are too talented not to. Fans and players need to stick with Jeff Banister’s “Never Ever Quit” now more than ever. I traveled over eight hours to watch the one and six Rangers snap out of the streak tonight in Kansas City.
