Time to Earn it

jeffressThe Texas Rangers made a splash at the trade deadline. They acquired help, but not starting pitching. They received two offensive players and a reliever. Does that make them instant contenders? It does not, but it at least puts them more in the conversation.

Help is always good, but the Rangers players, including the new guys, know that nothing comes for free. The team needs to earn it’s post season birth. Yu Darvish needs to trust his new catcher, Cole Hamels needs to continue dominating, and the pen needs to shut it down when called upon.

We don’t know how it’s going to play out,” Banister said. “What we do know is you can look at the body of work of all of them individually, and you can think, ‘Man, this is going to be a tremendous lineup,’ but yet they still got to go out and do it. They still got to go out and perform.” Texasrangers.com

The Rangers are stacked for sure. But that never guarantees victory. You have to earn each and every victory. The Rangers are capable of earning a lot of victories, but now they need to go out and do it. It is time for this franchise to step to the next level and win it all.

Will they? Nobody knows. They gave up a lot to get the new pieces. Lewis Brinson looks like he will be a winner. Luis Ortiz is on track to be a solid major league starter. Dillon Tate was the 4th pick overall for a reason. The Rangers are putting a lot into winning now.

The line up should be tough for opposing pitchers night in and night out. The starters should be solid. The bull pen is finally looking solid. Time to go out each night and earn the AL West crown and beyond.
