The Spring Has Sprung

Spring Training is now in full swing in Surprise, AZ. We have stats to look at! The Rangers have some players that will be competing in the World Baseball Classic, so there should be a good bit of minor league players getting a chance to show what they are made of. Here is where the stats stand so far:

Pitching:

Dario Alverez has pitched 3 innings so far and has yet to give up a run. ERA: 0.00

Chi Chi Gonzalez has pitched 5 innings and given up just one run giving him an ERA of 1.80

Anthony Bass has given up 10 hits in five innings and has an ERA of 7.20

Nick Martinez has given up six hits in four innings of work, giving him an ERA of 4.50.

A.J. Griffin – 5.40

Martin Perez – 5.79

At the Plate:

Ryan Rua has had the most at bats with 19. He has a batting average of .211 with one home run and five RBI.

Joey Gallo, with 16 at bats, has struck out seven times and hit one home run. His BA is .125.

Jonathan Lucroy is batting .417 with 12 at bats, as is Rougned Odor.

Nomar Mazara and Mike Napoli are  both batting .308 in 13 at bats.

Up Next:

A whole lot of Rangers will be gone to the World Baseball classic this week. The Rangers play Venezuela on Thursday, so that should be interesting. Spring Training record never means much, it is more about getting the work in. Yu Darvish, Cole Hamels and Martin Perez are going to be in the starting rotation no matter what (barring injury). Yesterday’s game against the Cubs was on FSSW. I enjoyed getting to watch a little baseball on my television. The next televised game will be Thursday against Venezuela.
