Another Losing Road Trip

The Rangers during the 2010 season were two completely different teams on the road and at home, and so far this season it has been the same. The Rangers are 6-0 at home, and they are 4-5on the road. If the Rangers want to be considered “on the radar” this season, they are going to have to improve that record. They are not going to remain undefeated at home, that is a given, and it will also be difficult to have a home record like they did during the 2010 season. If the Rangers can finish the season with a record 6-8 games over .500 at home and at .500 on the road, I think they will be hard pressed to win the West. For the Rangers to reach 90+ wins, they have to play better on the road. Now, to be fair, it is not like they got killed in any game on this road trip, which included two cities (Detroit and NY) where the Rangers historically play their worst ball, but they need to find a way to pull those games out. the only two games on the trip they did not have a serious shot of winning was the 5-0 blank by the Orioles and the 5-2 Yankee victory on Saturday. Other than that, I would call it a good road trip even if it was not a successful one. Alexi Ogando got knocked around a little bit yesterday, giving up 3 HR’s to a team that is somehow living the steroid era dream of jacking at least 2 HR’s a game. Maybe the MLB should look into that? Just sayin’. The Rangers need to 1. have a great homestand next and 2. have an even better road trip. Look for the Rangers to get back on track starting tonight with the Angels and C.J. Wilson, preview of that series to come later.
