KC and the Sunshine Weekend

The Rangers had musical guest KC and the Sunshine Band at the ballpark Saturday night, which I found funny being that is was during a visit from the K.C. Royals. The Royals came into the series with a 12-7 record, having not lost a series yet this season. That has now changed, since the Rangers swept them. The starting pitching was great, Darren Oliver was fantastic (I wonder if it had anything to do with the interview he did with us?), and the rest of the bull pen was not that bad. Cody Eppley made his major league debut, and I was impressed with the kind of pitcher it looks like he can be. Also, Brett Tomko did good today except for on pitch, and that one pitch made the game very interesting! The Ranger still won, and they are looking almost unbeatable at home right now. Some problems, Nelly looks lost at the plate, Borbon is not performing well, Murphy is not a great centerfielder, he is not bad either, and Chris Davis still can’t hit. The bull pen is still struggling a little, but it looks like it is starting to come around. The Ranger have 4 against Toronto next, so look for my preview soon.

  1. Loved this series….bats came alive finally…big pitching performance from holland (minus 1 inning), ogando (minus 1 pitch), cj (minus a few pitches), eppley looked good, oliver/rhodes look solid but don’t want to wear them out to early in the season, and tomko (minus 1 pitch).

I do think a bullpen of Oliver, Rhodes, Strop, O’Day, Eppley, Tomko, and Bush can get it done for 1-2 weeks but going forward we have no place having Tomko, Bush, and lesser extent Eppley. I think a pen with long guy of Webb; 6th and 7th innings of Feldman, O’Day, and Rhodes; 8th inning of Oliver and Strop, and 9th of Feliz looks good.

Have to wonder how guys like Tanner, Webb, Feldman, Hunter, Eppley will fit in July and on.

Wish list items? CF, pen help, sp. I think Righty hitting OF help in general.
