20-7

20130901-080857.jpgThe Rangers finished August in walk-off style, defeating the Twins last night 2-1. I said in my article over at NolanWritin that Matt Garza really needed a good performance, and he delivered against his old club. Leonys Martin capped the night off with a bases loaded single up the middle and the Rangers were winners for the twentieth time in August. And here is an amazing stat: the last time the Rangers allowed 5 runs or more was July 30. Yes MLB, these Rangers can pitch.

The Rangers have needed every win they have gotten in the month of August as well, since the old cliche still stands: the A’s aren’t going away. The Rangers have a very tough September coming up (Athletics, Pirates, Rays and Royals just to name a few) and must continue winning series if they are to win the West. And I believe that they can. As mentioned before here on this site, the Rangers seem to be able to play to the level of their competition, so if that competition is good, they should play good. I guess we will know if they did play good in about thirty days.
