Astros to the AL West in 2013

That is right. The in state rivalry between the Rangers and the Astros is about to be vamped up big time. The Houston Astros are moving to the American League West, effective for the 2013 season. According to a report on SI.com, Jim Crane, who is buying the Astros, agreed to move them to the AL in 2013 for a discount of $50 million on the buying price. The move is being made because commish. Bud Selig wants two 15 team leagues, so he can add an extra wild card team to the post season eventually. I, for one, am not a big fan of adding another series to the post season. The post season is already long enough!

So, what does this mean for the Rangers? It means:

1. The Rangers will have to play less games against the Angels, Mariners and A’s.

2. The Astros are not good right now, so it means the Rangers will have another easy AL team to play, at least at first.

3. There will never be an all Texas World Series unless it happens next season!!

I am not sure how I feel about this yet, but it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. We will be seeing a lot more of this in a few years! Keep checking back here for more news and such.
