Yu Darvish

Sponosred Links

The bidding ends on Darvish tomorrow, and here are the latest rumors that I am hearing and reading: Early favorites to be the highest bidder are the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Both teams scouted him heavily, including Jon Daniels himself going to Japan to watch him play. Also the Nationals and Yankees have looked into it but neither seem very serious about it. It looks to me that the interest is not quite as high as everyone may have imagined when the news first broke that he was going to post.

I personaly do not think that the Rangers are going to give the around $50 million that I think it is going to take to win the bid. After that, it is rumored that it will take another $70-80 million to sign him. Although the Rangers could do it, I do not think they will. They have to many of their own to worry about in the near future to think about adding a guy who has never even pitched in the major leagues. I would rather see the Rangers save their money for a starter at the all-star break if they need one or a big time reliever. I have faith in the starting rotation of the Rangers as it is right now. It will be interesting to see how it all goes down tomorrow when the bidding is announced. I know you are all holding your breath.
