Spring Training Preview: Third Base

We all know that the Rangers have the best left side of the infield in all of baseball, and we all know that Adrian Beltre has a lot to do with that. Beltre came to the Rangers during the off season in 2011 and replaced Michael Young at third base. We all remember the controversy that followed when Rangers fans thought they were going to see Michael Young in a Rockies uniform or at least not i a Rangers uniform. But it could not have worked out better than it did (unless the Rangers get one more strike in game 6). Young went on to be the greatest DH/Utility infielder the Rangers have probably ever seen, and Beltre and Andrus looked amazing playing together. It seems that almost nothing can get by those two. Beltre committed only 11 errors (the lowest in his career), he had a range factor of 2.69 (his career average is 2.71), he also helped turn 24 double plays from third. And we all know what he did at the plate. 32 homers, 105 rbi’s, only struck out 53 times. Beltre is signed for a while for the Rangers, and as I mentioned in my last piece, with him and Elvis over there, this team has a potential to be one of the best SS/3B conbo’s of all time. I am excited to see another year of Beltre at third with Michael Young backing him up!
