How Yu Doin? (Pitching so Far)

Hello there. It has been a while since I have posted anything here. I hope you have been here voting on our poll and listening to our podcasts. I am sure you have been. Anyway, we have had a week worth of games so far, so I thought I would take a look and see how some of the Rangers are doing so far in spring training. Obviously, I want to start with the pitcher that absolutely nobody is talking about or writing about. Yu Darvish. Darvish looked pretty good in his debut. He gave up two hits, struck out three, and got out of a jam in the second inning after giving up a double. He made a good defensive play, and he covered first well on a play that Michael Young made. Overall, his stuff looked good and he looked pretty comfortable out there. I say Darvish is looking good so far in a short sample. Colby Lewis gave up 2 runs on 3 hits over two innings in his first action of the spring, one of them a home run. I am not that worried about Lewis, and I still think he is going to be the ace for the Rangers at the start of the season. Derek Holland, Good friend of the Ranger Report, gave up one run on 3 hits. Dutch is in good shape coming into spring training and is going to be a huge part of the Rangers run in 2012. I look forward to seeing more work from Derek as the spring goes on. Matt Harrison had a great outing, giving up no runs on no hits in his 2 innings of work. Matt said after the game that he felt really good and was ready to move forward. I hope Matt has another season in 2012 like he had in 2011. Neftali Feliz is last on my list right now for a reason. He did not have a good outing at all for his first start of the spring. He gave up 3 hits (including a 3 run shot) and he looked uncomfortable out there. I think it will take him a few more starts before he starts looking comfortable and figuring out what kind of starter he is going to be. I am not ready to give up on Feliz yet. I think he will be good at some point in the 2012 season. Michael Kirkman has had a bad start to his spring so far, giving up 7 runs on 9 hits in just 4 innings worked so far. He needs to improve that if he wants to make the team out of spring training. Scott Feldman, Mark Hamburger, and Greg Reynolds have all pitched two innings and have yet to give up a hit. So that is how the pitchers are doing so far in about a week worth of work. Not a lot to base anything on yet, but something for Rangers fans to chew on going into this weekend.
