Divisionally Challanged

“There’s no frustration. We have to get back to playing our style of baseball.” Michael Young said after a 3-2 loss to the Angels Saturday night. Well, Michael, there is some frustration among the fan base right now. The Rangers have now lost 4 in a row, all to division rivals, and the last two are to the team that appeard to be out of it in April and May but has not got it together and is winning a lot of ball games. The Rangers did all of that to themselves last night as well. 3 errors and 0-8 with runners in scoring position is really the story of the game. I know that there were two bad calls by the umpires, but bad calls happen. If the Rangers don’t make those errors, they win the game. If the Ranger are 1-8 with runners in scoring position, especially in the 9th inning, they would have won the game. I know it is easy to blame the umps, but I think the Rangers should blame themselves after this one. Kinsler did not blame the umps. “If we play our style of baseball and do what we’re capable of doing, it doesn’t matter, if we play our style of baseball, those things don’t come into play.” Very true.

The Texas Rangers now have to try and salvage the series today against Dan Haren and leave L.A. with a 4.5 game lead, and not a 2.5 game lead. Today, even though it is only early June, is a very big game in my opinion. The Rangers need a error free game and an offensive outburst today to start getting their season back on track, or it could be a long summer for all of us.
