Pre-Game Musings

I am not a big fan of games that start at 9 pm central time. I feel like the game should be in the third or fourth inning by now. As I sit here impatiently waiting for the game to start, I wonder a few things.

1. Can the young pitchers the Rangers are using right now take this team to the promised land, or do the Rangers need to make a trade before the July trade deadline? Can we count on the likes of Grimm, Tepesch, Ortiz and Scheppers to lead this team deep into the post season, or do we need a stronger veteran presence to help out. I guess only time will tell on that one.

2. When will the injury bug stop hitting the Rangers? It seems like ever since the 2010 season where practically the entire team stayed healthy, the Rangers have had more than their fair share on injuries. Just look at this season alone: Ian Kinsler, AJ Pierzynski, Martin Perez, Alexi Ogando, Nick Tepesch and Jeff Baker have all missed time at some point. We are also missing Colby Lewis, Neftali Feliz, and Joakim Soria. It seems like we have been through enough injury for several teams and I hope it stops soon.

3. First Pitch Swinging. Nothing irritates me more during a close game than when the Rangers hitters go up there and just start hacking. There is nothing more demoralizing to a fan than to see the opposing pitcher hurl a 7 pitch inning because your team can’t be patient. They need to cut that out.

4. Play Jurickson Profar! Leury Garcia is the backup for a reason! If Profar is going to be with the major league squad, please let him play! We don’t want to hear about how the twenty year old needs a day off unless he looks like he is about to fall over. Thank you.

So now that I have that off my chest, i can enjoy tonight’s game. Y’all do the same.
