Texas Rangers Player Profiles: Martin Perez

perezMartin Perez was a pleasant surprise in 2013, pitching as well as we could have hoped he would pitch. We had all been hearing about this kid named Perez who was going to be future star for the Rangers, and he became a star in the DFW metroplex last season. Perez was 10-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 2013 in just 20 starts. If Perez can stay healthy and get somewhere around 32 starts or so, I see him building confidence and having a really good season. I think that Perez is capable of winning 12 to 15 games in 2014, especially with the bats this team has picked up during the off-season.

I expect Perez to hold down the number two spot in the rotation until Derek Holland is able to come back from what we now know is more serious than the Rangers first led us all to believe. Perez has good stuff, he is young and has not been overworked in the minors, and I feel like this will be an even better season for Perez than last season was. Look for Perez t impress you as the 2014 season wears on.
