Michael Young Arrives in Camp

Michael Young said he will not answer any questions about the trade situation that has been discussed, just a little bit, over the past 2 weeks, but he is in camp to play baseball. He is ready to go and is ready to be a Ranger for this season. He did say that he was a little surprised that the Rangers did not trade him over the past two weeks, but he has had a couple of sit downs with team president Nolan Ryan and he is ready to be the utility/dh guy that the Rangers want him to be. For Ranger fans, weather the realize it or not, this is a really good thing. Say what ever you want about Young (and you all will), this team is a better team with Michael Young on it than without.  I, for one, am very happy that the Michael Young angry with the team talk MAY be behind us. Lets get to some baseball talk!!

Rangers Ink Tomko

The Rangers have signed right hander Brett Tomko to a minor league contract with no invite to spring training today. Tomko spent last season with the Blue Jays, the Yankees and the Oakland A’s and had an ERA of 3.98while appearing in 42 games. In 13 seasons, he has a career ERA of 4.65. He is another guy that the Rangers are getting relatively cheap and may have good results if he is healthy. The Rangers have done a great job under the leadership of Jon Daniels at making deals that work out for the team like this one, so I am interested in seeing how this one works out.

Full Spring Training Drills Start Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day for Ranger fans, and the news will be flowing like  champagne at Grammy party. I cannot wait until the first spring training game, which in case you were wondering, is Sunday, Feb.27. Enjoy baseball in excess over the next few weeks. Go Rangers.
