I predicted a few days back that Texas Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish and third baseman Adrian Beltre would both wind up on the disabled list. I was only half right. The Rangers anounced today that Adrian Beltre would return to third base Thursday.
Beltre is probably one of the toughest players in all of major league baseball, period. It’s hard to believe that after pulling up holding his leg just a few short days ago that he will return. If he is not 100% healthy, I think it is a bad idea to keep him off the DL. Of course, he seems to find a way to play through injury and pain almost every season.
Jurickson Profar has been playing very well, but he is no Adrian Beltre. I believe that Profar will remain with the big clib, but it sure will be nice to see Beltre back at the hot corner tomorrow. The Rangers go for another win against Oakland tonight.
