Is it Time to Trade Anyone and Everyone for Help?

sad coleWatching the Angels and Rangers go at it again, and score 14 runs between them, is really starting to let the slump set in. The Rangers need help. They will not have Colby Lewis or Derek Holland back for a long time. Their bullpen can’t hold anything. When the offense is good, the pitching is bad. And vice versa.
Rumor has it that there is a huge amount of interest in one Jurickson Profar. The Rays, Yankees, among others would like to trade for him. So how desperate is it time to be? The pitching is dreadful. The Rangers starting rotation has an ERA over 8 this month. The pen is not much better. Is Matt Moore or Jake Odorizzi worth Profar? Andrew Miller? Or should the Rangers keep Profar and trade Rougned Odor?

With Shin-Soo Choo being hurt, Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland being totally ineffective, Odor being an error machine, and Ryan Rua struggling, is it just pitching help the Rangers need?
Here is my opinion: take it or leave it. The Rangers do not need to trade everyone. The Rangers need help, but they still have first place (for now) and they did score six runs tonight, which should be enough to win a game. They have struggled badly, but they still can recover. They have to decide right now though if Profar or Odor is the second baseman goimg forward. With Odor not wanting to sign an extension or even talk about it right now, it makes me wonder a bit.
I say trade whoever for the right piece. The serious question is, who is the right piece? Can one or two pitchers help turn this team around? Only time will tell, but right now I believe Rangers fans will take anyone they can get to stop the bleeding. The Astros are not going away. The Mariners are hanging around. The slump will end, but will it end in time? All Rangers fans sure hope so. There is still plenty of time left in the season.
