Rangers Deal Three for Carlos Beltran

The Texas Rangers have been the source of many rumors leading up to the trade deadline. They were finally able to pull the trigger on two different trades right before time expired.

Needing DH help after losing (or never really having) Prince Fielder, the Rangers traded for Carlos Beltran. Beltran, 37, was having a good season for the Yankees. 22 home runs, 64 RBI, and a batting average of .304. He now leads the Rangers in home runs.

The Rangers decided to improve their pitching by adding offense. The Rays seem to be asking too much for their starters, so Jon Daniels went a different direction.

It did cost the Rangers. Dillon Tate is a high level pitching prospect who will probably turn out to be a good major league pitcher. The Yankees got three good prospects, but in return they picked up Beltran’s salery.

The Rangers line up got a little more powerful today with the addition of Carlos Beltran. The Rangers now appear to be all in for a 2016 run to the post season, adding Carlos Beltran is going to help with that goal.
