Hamilton out 6-8 Weeks

Hamilton is likely to miss six to eight weeks with what is a small fracture in the humerus bone of his right shoulder, an injury he incurred after sliding into home plate in the first inning of Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to the Tigers. He says his arm has a dull ache. This is a big blow to a team that was waiting for Hamilton to get hot. The Rangers will go on with a platoon in the outfield of Nelson Cruz, Julio Borbon, David Murphy and Mitch Moreland. They have called up Chris Davis it is assumed to play some first base and DH while Mitch Moreland will be playing a little more outfield. I hope this now means that David will be an everyday player! The outfield play should not suffer much in my opinion with Murphy playing every day, and we all remember the stretch of hitting that Murph had last season when Hamilton was out for the month of September. All I can say is, it is a good thing the Rangers have started so hot, now it is time to see already how this lineup deals with adversity. How do you feel about the play that Ham got injured on? Should he have gone? Please leave your comments below.

  1. Dumb move to send Hamilton home on a bang bang play….agressive running is one thing but dumb ass running (Beltre double trying to make into triple and Borbon bone head pick off of 1st). As Wash says, that is how baseball goes.

I like the Chris Davis move and like to give him another chance in the majors. I have to think 1 of 2 things will happen tomorrow….Bush DFA’d or Lowe sent down to bring Chavez up. Actually wouldn’t hurt to see if Endy can contribute again….if not then it answers our question that he isn’t an option later if needed.

I hate that this happened to Hambone but at least it happened in the 1st 1/4 of the season rather like last year in the last 1/4 of the season. Freak accident and could of been the 1 0r 2 out of 10 chance that this happens.

What does your lineup look like now without Hambone. I say the following vs RHP and LHP:

    RHP:
    1. Kinsler 2b
    2. Young DH
    3. Moreland RF
    4. Beltre 3rd
    5. Davis 1st
    6. Cruz LF
    7. Murph CF
    8. Torrealba C
    9. Andrus SS

    and against LHP:

    1. Kinsler 2b
    2. Andrus ss
    3. Beltre 3rd
    4. Cruz LF
    5. Young DH
    6. Napoli 1st
    7 Murph CF
    8. Moreland RF
    9. Torrealba C

I know that is why I am the couch coach and Wash is the real coach. I also raise the question, do the Rangers look to acquire OF help?
