Angels v Rangers Preview

Okay, so the Rangers just finished up a so-so road trip that took them to Baltimore, Detroit and NY. I would not call the road trip a complete failure, even though they lost 5 of the 9 games and Josh Hamilton during the trip. The reason that I say that is because the Rangers, no. one, did not get blown out in any of the games (They lost back to back walk offs to Detroit and both Yankee wins were close games), and no. two They are still not making errors. The infield is good, real good. The outfield is also pretty good, but it could use some work. So, lets get to the reason for this post: Angels (10-5) vs Rangers (10-5)

Santana (0-1, 3.74 ERA) vs Wilson (1-0, 3.72 ERA)

Santana is 11-7 with a 5.44 ERA against the Rangers in his career, but he has never pitched well against them in Arlington. I hope that continues tonight. Santana has high quality stuff, but the Angels are not scoring that many runs for him so far this season. The Angels are playing good baseball right now regardless of how many runs they are scoring. The Angels were dominated by the Rangers last season, I do not look for that to continue this season. The Angels are a better team than they were last season. It all depends on if the Rangers can start scoring some runs early against Santana.

CJ Wilson did not have a good last outing, but he is now back home. I look for CJ to give up minimal runs in tonights game (3-4) and strike out more than usual. I think CJ is going to set the tone for this long homestand, and I think that tone is going to be a good one. Rangers win this game 7-4.

Palmer (0-0, 7.71 ERA) vs Lewis (1-1, 5.25 ERA)

Palmer is a young pitcher who struggled with command in his last outing. He is a sinker ball pitcher, and if he does not get his ball to sink against the Rangers, it will be trouble for him again. The Rangers have already crushed some sinker ball pitchers who had trouble locating. Hopefully, they will do it again Tuesday.

Lewis had a bad outing last time out, and his wife has had twins since his last start. We will see how he can recover from all that, and I think he will recover well. I look for the Rangers to get Colby some run support for once, or, I should sau, for the second time this season. Rangers win 11-5

Weaver (4-0, 1.30 ERA) vs. Harrison (3-0, 1.23 ERA)

What really do we need to say about this game? Two great pitchers going against eachother. I mean, come on, just look at the ERA’s so far this season for both these guys! This will be a great pitching match up, and this game could be 2-1 or lower.  I don’t think it will be though. It is time for both of these guys to get knocked around. I hope that Weaver is the one to get knocked around. I think this will be a close game, and I think the team that is more creative on the bases will win. I look for the Angels to take this one, 3-2, for the Rangers 1st home loss of the season.
