The Rebuilding Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are rebuilding. At a 3-3 start for the first week, they are not blowing anyone’s socks off. The pitching has had some struggles. The bullpen has an ERA over eight. The rotation is not faring much better with an ERA of over five. Offensively they have been pretty good overall. But there are some Rangers fans on social media that wants the rebuilding team blown up.

The Struggles

Nick Solak was struggling but had himself a pretty good day yesterday. His batting average is now up to .222. Leody Taveras has been really struggling at the plate, hitting .083 (one hit in sixteen at bats with eleven strikeouts). I have seen calls for Leody to be cut. I have also seen people who say they miss Rougned Odor because of Solak and Taveras. Pitching has also been hit or miss. Kyle Gibson lasted one out on opening day. He was very good on Wednesday.

Injuries

It’s hard to remember but the Rangers have a full injured list. Jose Leclerc, Jonathan Hernandez, Brett Martin, Demarcus Evans and Joely Rodriguez on the pitching side. Willie Calhoun and Khris Davis on the offensive side. So the team is not exactly what hey envisioned, and they are still a .500 ballclub after the first week. I had the rebuilding Rangers at 68 wins in 2021, which means 90+ losses.

The Rangers will still be fun to watch. We will cover the minors a good bit in 2021. Sit back, relax, calm down and enjoy watching the young talent come into their own in the 2021 season!
