Stuff and Things

Nelson Cruz is playing in Frisco this week and hopes to be back with the Rangers by Friday in Philly. He is ready to go, has been running and playing catch and swinging, and he did well in his first game in Frisco. Look for him to have his swing back this weekend, something he did not have before going on  the DL.

Josh Hamilton is also scheduled to play in Frisco this week, and hopes to be ready to go after a short rehab assignment there. There is no exact date on his return but he hopes it will be next week some time. Josh and Nelly will be a huge lift for a team that has been struggling to score runs.

Scott Feldman pitched Saturday and is on track to return to the team soon. Washington will not say what the immediate plans are for Feldy when he rejoins the team, but Feldman says he is being stretched out as a starter right now. I think Feldman will probably replace Harrison in the line up, but I have nothing to say that I am right. Just a guess. Or he may be used as a sixth starter.

Tommy Hunter said via twitter chat with him yesterday that he hopes to return to the Rangers in 3 weeks or less. Again, I am not sure what the Rangers are planning on doing with him when he returns, but it will be interesting to see what they decide to do and how he pitches on his rehab stint. I hope he is a big lift for the pitching staff.

Cody Eppley gone wild! His wild pitch cost the Rangers the game last night, but that is one of the growing pains that a team goes through when they are testing out a young pitcher to see how he will handle pressure situations. I know it is hard for Ranger fans to take sometimes, but these are some of the growing pains that a team goes through when they are testing young guys.

Rangers and A’s share a lead in 1st in the division right now and the Angels are only a half game behind. It should be fun to watch what happens in the next few weeks, see if one team or another pulls ahead in the race.

Thanks for reading.
