Experience Matters

With a career .239 batting average and the ability to play multiple positions, the Rangers decided to take a chance on the 32-year-old. MIller has previous experience with both Chris Young and Chris Woodward, playing with CY in Seattle and being coached by Woodward also in Seattle.

That’s What He Said

“The way Chris [Young] and the Rangers were acting was clear that they wanted me to be a part of this and I was absolutely thrilled to get the chance to get to sign a multi-year deal, and not just be a quote, unquote rental,” Miller explained.

“I want to be able to hopefully be here for a long time and build something. That was really exciting.”

While he was brought in to mostly play thee outfield, his versatility will help him to get into the lineup in multiple ways. Miller plays all positions except pitcher and catcher.

Where He will Play

The Rangers brought him in to play mostly left field, since that is the one outfield position that is still in question. Right field is Kole Calhoun and center appears to be Adolis Garcia job.

Miller was a good and mostly inexpensive pickup by Texas. He is a veteran with experience that should help bring along some of the young talent the Rangers currently have.

Miller is known around the league as a good teammate and a good person. He has the kind of attitude that the Rangers are looking for in the clubhouse. Miller and Eli White will share time in left. Also look for him to spot infielders and other outfielders as well.
