Yu Darvish Update – Yu Darvish spent most of last week with the Rangers in Arlington. He and his dad were here, it is said that Yu met with some of the players, meet with the organization, check out the facilities, and just got to know some of the places in the Arlington area. That being said, they have still not reached a deal with him and I do not expect they will until the week of January 18th. After hearing about the visit that they made, though, I think they are going to sign him. Yu seems to be excited about the opportunity of playing here, and I think that is a good thing.

Josh Hamilton – The Rangers have hired Katie Hamilton’s father, Josh’s father in law, to be his new accountability coach after the departure of Johnny Narron. I like this hire, since he was one of the main people to help Josh get over his drug addiction problems when he was younger. I am a big fan of Josh, and I know that the Rangers are still working on getting an extension done with him to lock him up for a long time, and I think that this move shows Josh that they are serious about trying to keep him around for years to come.

Mike Adams – Adams had surgery to repair a minor abdominal hernia on Wednesday, and is expected to recover in time to be ready for spring training. He will be a little behind everyone else, though, because he will miss some of the off season pitching camps while he recovers from the surgery. He and Jon Daniels say it was minor enough that it should not effect him coming into spring training.

Tracy for Reynolds – The Rangers picked up right-handed pitcher Greg Reynolds from the Rockies for Minor League infielder Chad Tracy. Reynolds was a top pitching prospect for the Rockies and was taken in the 2006 draft by them. He has had some arm problems and his major league numbers are not that great, but I usually trust what Jon and his staff do. It usually works out for the best.

The Rangers still are in need of left handed relief pitching, and I think it will come in the arm of a guy that they had in the pen last season, namely Gonzo. I would really like to see the Rangers bring him back to the fold.
