Garza Strong

20130824-063139.jpgThe Rangers finally got a performance out of Garza that they have been expecting since they brought him to Texas. He looked like an Ace last night against the Kansas City Royals, going eight plus and only surrendering one run in the ninth inning on the way to the Rangers 3-1 victory.

“Outstanding, He was locked in. He used all his pitches and commanded them all. He did exactly what he wanted to do. That was Matt.” Washington said after the game. That really is the Matt Garza that Rangers fans thought they were getting at the trade deadline. Although Garza will not be a Rangers in 2014, I hope he has at least one more of those performances left in a Rangers uniform.

Today the Rangers need to build on that performance behind Alexi Ogando to take the series and keep pace with the Rays (one game up in the wild card) and the Indians (0.5 games up in the Wild Card). I still believe that this team can make the wild card, but it is going to take more pitching performances like we saw last night, and they will need to hit the ball as well. The offense is the key in my opinion. They have to score at least three runs a game over the next eight if they want to get to and have a chance to win a wild card game. Let the stress continue!
