Are the Astros Really Sorry?

The Houston Astros have had an interesting off-season. It has been an off-season where baseball has been talked about more than anticipated, thanks to the Houston team. We may never know if they are actually sorry or not (although, let’s be honest, we know they’re not sorry), but we do know that teams are not buying their apology.

The scandal lost the Astros their skipper and general manager, as well as the skipper for the Mets and Red Sox. After the investigation concluded, Rob Manfred said “The 2017 World Series will always be looked at different “. That is an understatement. It looked like they knew what pitch Yu Darvish was about to throw because they did.

I am not here to say whether the punishment fit the crime, but as a fan of the game (and a fan of a rival team), the players at least do not seem to be the least bit sorry. From their owner saying that it didn’t effect the outcome of the World Series in 2017 to Carlos Correa denying that ant buzzers were used, they don’t really seem to care much about the whole situation. Alex Bregman even said he felt sorry for “the way our team is being viewed”.

The Texas Rangers were not a good baseball team over the past two plus seasons, and that may change in 2020. The Astros scandal did not affect the Rangers much since they were not going anywhere to begin with, but there are a lot of teams and a lot of pitchers out there that would like to see the Astros players get punished for what they did.

What do you think? Should the Astros players be punished? Should they be banned from post season play for the next few seasons? What do you as a baseball fan think about the whole situation? Let me know on twitter or facebook.
