The Rangers took care of business today by knocking off the Orioles 3-0. Derek Holland had another quality start and another win for the Rangers. The offense did just enough again to get the job done today with HR’s from Beltre and Kinsler. The Rangers played a double header against he O’s yesterday, and lets face it, they were not going to go 162-0, no matter what the Hague Sports thought. The first game, they were out pitched. Lewis had some really good innings, but unfortunately Zach Britton was better for 7 2/3 innings. The Rangers not only lost their first game of the season, but they were shut out. Did that spell trouble for the boys? No, they came back in the nightcap of the double header and scored 13 runs against the O’s, and Harrison was once again fantastic.

So what does all this mean for the Rangers? They are off to their best start since 1989 after their best season ever in 2010. And they still get no respect from most of the media. I think that is the way I want it, for now. The way the media is not covering the Rangers is making teams not notice them as much, meaning their pitching has a chance to really sneak up on people. the Ranger starters have been nothing short of amazing. It has been better than the coveted Phillies rotation so far. There  are some questions I have about he coming week:

1. Can the Rangers continue to have sucess on the Road? They did not last season,as they had a losing record on the road last year. And, historically, they have struggled in both Detroit and NY.

2. Will the bats slow down? I don’t think so. This offense is potent and I think it will stay that way for most of the season.

3. Will the pen stay hot? Only time will tell.

We will have a preview of the Detroit series coming up later.

  1. The only game I haven’t been able to watch is the 5-0 loss to the crafty lil lefty. I don’t think the offense is hitting on all cylinders to quite yet but they are still getting the job done as a collective unit though. I would like to see a night when we get 2-4 nights out of most of the guys 1-6 or 7 and see what the offensive output would be.

Back to the 8-1 start….wow is what I have to say. I do like the fact that all parts of the game are clicking for the Rangers right now. They have started the season with some serious competition (Boston, @ Baltimore, @ Detroit, @ NYY). I will be happy with series wins @ Baltimore and @ Detroit then 1-2 or 2-1 @ NYY. If the Rangers manage the above they go 5-4 on the road trip and come home for 10-game homestand at 11-4. Did anybody see that coming before the season started. I have to think the Rangers will go 6-4 or 7-3 on the next homestand and split the games in Oakland before the month is out. Did you see a 18-9 or 19-8 start to the season?

I will be at the games the next 3 days. I hope for an awesome series here in the MoTown and will be one of probably 25-35 Rangers fans at Comerica. I think I will start the week right and where my Claw and Antlers t-shirt! Last year Rangers where 2-1 in Motown so let’s hope the team keeps up the momentum in the D.
