The Outfield and the DL

As of today, all three of the Rangers opening day starting outfielders are on the DL. The Rangers have purchased the contract of veteran outfielder Endy Chavez to take Borbon’s place on the 25-man roster.  Chavez was batting .305 in the minors. The Rangers can’t seem to catch a break, seeing that Borbon was coming on and playing really well as of late. That leaves the 4 outfielder as David Murphy, Craig Gentry, Endy Chavez and Mitch Moreland. The outfield will be fast and pretty good with the guys they have now, but they could really use the power of Hamilton (hopes to be back in the next 10 days) and Cruz (aslo hopes to be back in 2 weeks or less). Borbon is now on the 15 day DL. If he playes today, Chavez will be seeing his first action in the big leagues since a knee injury ended his season on June 19, 2009. I think he is a insurance policy and the outfield will be Gentry, Murphy and Moreland for most games in the next few weeks. Lets all hope that they can score some runs with so many on the DL right now. It will be tough today against Haren, especially if Holland has another one of his bad innings. I will keep you posted if I hear anything else.
