Ogando’s Big Night

I believe that tonight is a big night for Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando. Alexi had an amazing start to the 2011 season, as all of us remember, but in June things started going very badly for him. He was 7-0 with around a 2 ERA before he became 7-3 with a 2.87 ERA. Now, I know that a 2.87 does not sound that bad, but in the last 28 days, Ogando is 1-3 with a 5.71 ERA. The Rangers need bullpen help pretty badly, and we all know that Ogando was a great pen pitcher last season. So, I think tonight will tell us if Ogando will go back to the pen or stay in the starting rotation. Harrison went through a rough patch but seems to have it mostly figured out, Holland is looking mostly solid, and Lewis and Wilson are doing their job anchoring the rotation. The Rangers need Ogando to go back to being that really dominating force that he was in April and May if he wants to keep his job in the starting rotation, otherwise the pen help may come for within and it may be named Alexi Ogando. And don’t forget, Hunter, Feldmam and even Webb may be available in the next few weeks. I look forward to seeing if Ogando can right the ship tonight or if the Rangers have a tough decision to make after this one.
