Trouble, Big Trouble

As we run up to the unofficial mid-season of the baseball season, one thing is very obvious. The Rangers defense is terrible. Totally terrible. There are not words to describe how bad it is. There is no way the Rangers can repeat as AL Champions if they do not start playing defense. This is a new problem for the Rangers, as they really kept their errors down last season. Some of these games are getting down right hard to watch. This is a team that Rangers fans  had some high hopes for coming out of spring training, and they have fulfilled some of those by being in 1st place for most of the 2011 season so far. But they are not dominating. They are losing to teams that are not on the same talent level as the Texas Rangers, teams like the Astros, Mets and Marlins, The Rangers did not have their great June, and I think this is going to be a problem for them come September. How can a team with Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus and Josh Hamilton be only 3 games over .500? Because they are playing down to the level of their competition. This is a team filled with all-stars who are swinging at first pitches and popping them up to the shortstop. Not acceptable, and I am beginning to get worried about the chances of this team to make the post season. If they do not have the least errors of any AL team in the second half, I am predicting that this team will not make it back to the post season. I am about to write my mid-season report, and I do not think that it will be a good one. This season is starting to feel like the disappointing seasons of 08 and 09, and less like the great season of 2010. I hope I am wrong, but I do not think I am. The Rangers need a wake up call, and they need one fast. Just look back over the past 10 seasons of Major League Baseball, and show me where a team who had the most errors in baseball also won their division and made the World Series. You are not going to find one.

1. Am I the only Ranger fan that is so frustrated by the defense of the Rangers this season?

2. Is the bullpen or the defense a bigger problem this season?

Thanks for reading.
