Return of the Matt

As we all know, Nelson Cruz is out for around 3 weeks with another hamstring injury, so the Rangers are going to most likely use more of Mitch Moreland in the outfield and more of Napoli at 1st base. So, what does that mean for our catching? It means…wait for it…that the Rangers have resigned one of my favorite players from last season, Matt Treanor. Matt is a great back up catcher and he really meshed with the team last season. I am very excited to have him back in the Ranger fold. Also, the Rangers signed Michael Gonzalez from the O’s. Gonzalez was 2-2 with a 4.27 ERA in 49 games for the Orioles. Left-handed hitters were hitting .211 off him. He has not allowed a run in his past 13 games, holding opponents to five hits and one walk while striking out 15 in 12 1/3 innings. Another pretty good pickup in my opinion. And, speaking of good, what about Scott Feldman last night? I think he surprised a whole lot of Rangers fans last night with that spot start. If the Rangers can get on a roll in the next week to week in a half, the Angels are going to have a difficult time catching them. And don’t forget that Beltre is scheduled to be back tomorrow. All in all, I feel much better about the Rangers this week than I did last week. How do you feel? Tweet me @therangerreport, email me ben@therangerreport.com or facebook me with what you think! Thanks and go Rangers!
