On A Roll

The Rangers have now won 3 out of the last 4 games, all against AL East opponents. They took 2 out of 3 against the Rays in Arlington and crushed the Red Sox last night in Boston 10-0. Oh, and by the way, the Twins crushed the Angels last night as well, so the lead is now 4.5 games and the Rangers magic number is 20 (really if you want to be technical the Rangers magic number is 1 more win than the Angels, but it is still fun to talk about). I don’t know what to say about Derek Holland except that he is showing us the reason that the Rangers were unwilling to give him up in trades for all those years. He made an unmistakably amazing Red Sox lineup look silly last night. Derek should be the third starter for the post season this year unless he falls apart in September, but after last night I have a lot more faith in him.

And by the way, who is missing Nelly Cruz? Not David Murphy. (okay, David probably does miss him, but, come on!) Murphy is tearing it up right now getting to start every day and Ron is reluctant to start someone else in the outfield right now because of the play and bat of Murphy. He had two home runs including a grand slam last weekend against the Angels, and he was 4-5 last night against the Bo Sox with yet another home run. He is locked in right now and I am so excited to see that. Murphy has always been one of my favorite players. I enjoyed seeing Martin getting a hit in his 1st appearance in a Rangers uniform last evening as well. And seeing Blanco, Treanor, and others made me feel like the post season is just around the corner again. Not to mention Beltre being back and contributing right away. Needless to say, we are all on a high after last nights game and I hope that high continues today.
